ENSURING THE RIGHT TO FOOD THROUGH HUMAN RIGHTS IMPACT ASSESSMENTS

FIAN International, the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung, Berne Declaration and the Geneva Academy cordially invite you to a side event at the 28th session of the Human Rights Council on Wednesday, 11 march 2015, 5:30 – 6:30 pm in Geneva, Palais des Nations, room E 3023.

At this expert round-table, we will present and discuss the results of the Human Rights Impact Assessment (HRIA)-study «Owning seeds, accessing food».

Following recent experiences in implementing HRIA in practice, the panelists will discuss the strengths and shortcomings of the HRIA approach and identify challenges for future HRIAs. The discussion will also focus on the potential role of the UN human rights system in strengthening HRIAs and in supporting its use in public policy making.
